2012 marks the 75th anniversary of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns. Formed in 1937 by a group of city and town mayors, the
original mission was to create an organization that could provide a unified municipal voice on issues of common concern.
Seventy-five years later, though the mission has grown to include providing technical and legal assistance, as well as educational
events, the core mission has remained the same: to advocate as a unified voice on behalf of all the cities and towns in Arizona.

Last February, Litchfield Park entered into a Facebook competition for a Sprite Spark Parks Grant. The competition was to gain the
most online votes. In the end, Litchfield Park Recreation Center was among the seven to win the $35,000 grant. The Litchfield Park
Recreation Center has used that money to refurbish their basketball court to a like-new condition. The refurbished court now has a
new blue and green surface, four 8-foot tall goals and two 10-foot goals. The court is also in regulation size since it extended
about 10 feet to the west and the east. Additionally, the Kiwanis Club of Litchfield donated $1,500 toward the $1,600 bleachers and
the city made up the rest. Point your browser here
