Which Mayor of an Arizona city played in Super Bowl 1?

Answer
Although he wasn't on the squad of either the Green Bay Packers or Kansas City Chiefs, Sam Hosler, the Mayor of the Town of Kearny, played at half-time of Super Bowl I as a member of the University of Arizona Marching Band.

The first AFL-NFL World Championship Game, later to become known as the Super Bowl, was played in Los Angeles at the Memorial Coliseum on January 15, 1967. The Packers won the game 35-10 with Bart Starr as the Quarterback of the Packers who were coached by the legendary Vince Lombardi.

This was long before the days of half-time spectaculars featuring world-renown pop stars, so the organizers of the event invited marching bands from the U of A and Grambling State University in Louisiana to perform along with popular New Orleans trumpeter Al Hirt. Mayor Hosler played the baritone horn.

"I'm always proud to be a member of the U of A Marching Band. There's a reason they call it the 'Best in the West,'" said Mayor Hosler. "It was a wonderful experience and I will never regret it."

Unfortunately, you will not be able to watch the performance as NBC and CBS, which both broadcast the game, later erased their tapes of the event to save costs. A partial broadcast of the event was later discovered, but it did not include the half-time show.

Tickets for the first Super Bowl cost $12, and 33,000 of them went unsold.

This year's Super Bowl is back in California on February 7, 2016 in the City of Santa Clara at the state-of-the-art Levi's Stadium. Tickets for this year's game start at $3,700 each and range up to $20,000. The half-time show features Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars.
