League Policy Committees

The League welcomes elected officials and municipal staff to volunteer to participate in one of the League's five policy committees.

The policy committees are:

  • Budget, Finance and Economic Development
  • General Administration, Human Resources and Elections
  • Neighborhoods, Quality of Life and Sustainability
  • Public Safety, Military Affairs and Courts
  • Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Works
The resolutions process was altered in 2015 to allow for more in-depth research and greater involvement by local elected officials and staff in developing the League's Municipal Policy statement. Five separate policy committees were created to thoroughly vet the issues. Each of these committees is chaired by a member of the Executive Committee, and is comprised of both officials and municipal staff.

If you are interested in participating on one of these committees, please submit your name, title and committee of interest to resolutions@azleague.org.

In addition, your city or town can submit policy ideas to be considered for resolutions at any time of the year. Once a policy idea is assigned by League President Mark Mitchell, the committee can begin working on the issue and have it vetted by the time that resolutions are to be considered. So it is in your best interest to submit your ideas early. A brief explanation and purpose of the idea is all that is necessary, as the policy committee and League staff will flesh out the full text of the resolution. Policy submissions can also go to resolutions@azleague.org.
