AZ Cities & Towns Week

Thank you to all of the municipalities that celebrated cities and towns last week! This week is set aside each year to recognize the services that cities and towns provide, as well as to honor those who serve at all levels of municipal government. Cities and Towns Week was held October 20-26, and many cities held events or issued proclamations to celebrate.

To bring light to Cities and Towns Week and the services municipalities provide year-round, AZ Cities @ Work was featured on Sonoran Living with the Cottonwood Fire Department and the City of Chandler Municipal Utilities, talking about the ways city and town employees go above and beyond the call of duty to serve their residents. View the video here.

AZ Cities @ Work also had the privilege of visiting Arizona Midday with the City of Peoria, where we talked about the city's contributions to Phoenix International Raceway events and the importance of municipal parks. You can watch the clip here.

In addition to the television appearances, the League celebrated Cities & Towns Week with billboards featuring images and concepts from the AZ Cities @ Work campaign. Many of the state's Harkins Theatres are also currently playing AZ Cities @ Work public service announcements through November 14.

Cities and Towns Week was also used as a way to recognize exemplary elected officials, municipal staff and volunteers. Individuals selected were featured on the AZ Cities @ Work Facebook & Twitter, in the AZCities@Work Blog and in online banners at www.AZCitiesWork.com. Cities and towns can continue to honor exceptional people who make their city or town great - from an enthusiastic councilmember to an employee who goes above and beyond or a boards and commission member who is vital to keeping your city or town running. If you would like someone featured from your city or town, please send the information below to swomer@azleague.org
