2013 AzTA/ADOT Transit Conference: Coming Together-Transit Connects Us

April 21 - 23, 2013

Join transit professionals from across the state of Arizona at this year's conference at the Marriott-Tempe Buttes for an innovative and informative time focusing on the theme of "Coming Together-Transit Connects Us." The conference will feature three separate tracks addressing current and future needs including an Urban Technical track, an ADOT Training and Education track, and a Partnering track. Each will focus on specific needs of conference attendees.

There are sessions for everyone during the conference. And all of the traditional AzTA/ADOT annual conference program options will be there as well. Join transit exhibitors and vendors for the state's only comprehensive transit show on Monday, and don't miss this year's Annual Awards Luncheon on Tuesday where nine "best of" awards will be made to deserving people, groups, or organizations where another special conference keynote will be delivered!

Come early on Sunday to enjoy a round of golf or participate as a judge or spectator at the ADOT Operator Roadeo! Join us on Sunday night and Monday night for conference receptions, meet with peers and experts to discuss your local transit needs, and network with professional staff at all levels while enjoying Tempe and the surrounding area.

Evening information sessions are scheduled in time for you to learn about our programs and still have time to apply for summer or fall. Topics covered include admissions, curriculum, and enrollment for our MPA, MPP, and graduate certificate programs. Advisors will be available to answer questions from interested potential students.

Now enrolling! New graduate certificates in Participatory Governance, Policy Informatics, Public Administration, and Public Policy are accepting applications. Certificates consist of only five courses and are a great resume enhancement for current students or previous graduates from any discipline!

The Arizona Citizen Planner 101

University of Arizona's Cooperative Extension

The University of Arizona's Cooperative Extension is pleased to announce the launching of a new online course related to land use planning. The Arizona Citizen Planner 101™ (AzCP 101) is a 10-hour online course designed for planning commissioners and elected officials throughout the state. Enrollees will learn the importance and role of their county or city's planning commission as well as about their respective planning processes. The course is self-paced and accessible at any time with an Internet connection. Planning jurisdictions around the state will find this course invaluable in bringing new planning commissioners and elected officials up to speed on the state's planning statutes, their jurisdiction's planning authorities, the role of public participation in developing plans and a host of other useful topics. It is also a great refresher course for public officials who may want to hone their decision-making skills.

The enrollment fee is $99. A certificate is available upon completion of all units.

This course was adapted for Arizona municipal and county planning officials by University of Arizona Cooperative Extension in partnership with Michigan State University's American Citizen Planner Institute and the Arizona Chapter of the American Planning Association.
