Why did you decide to serve in local government?
As a business and real estate attorney it was important to me to follow city government. I got to know city hall pretty well. Finally, I had the time and investment income to allow me to serve. I thought I could bring real world experience and professionalism to the council.

What are the biggest challenges facing your town today?
Keeping the infrastructure maintained - parks, waterlines, streets, buildings. We have a lot of deferred maintenance and also need some new facilities such as a courthouse and public works yard.

What opportunities do you see for your community?
We can fill the niche for medium sized businesses that want a small town rural atmosphere but also want the amenities of a big city, from medical services to symphonies.

What are you most proud of during your time in office?
Keeping the drama out of council work, keeping the council on speaking terms, keeping the meetings focused, and building relationships with the players.

Why is the League important to cities and towns in Arizona?
The League provides great training for the newly elected and practical advice for anyone. The annual convention is a wealth of information. The League is the clearing house for ideas and indispensable as a liaison to state agencies and the Legislature.
