Former League Executive Director and MAG Secretary John "Jack" DeBolske was honored as one of ten outstanding individuals to receive
the first-ever Arizona Transportation Legacy Awards at a special ceremony in Tucson. In celebration of the 60th Arizona Conference
on Roads and Streets, the first "Legacy Awards" were presented to recognize "one or more outstanding individuals who have made a
significant contribution to transportation in the state of Arizona."

Chandler's 99th birthday on May 17 was a low-key affair, but city officials say that's only because they are busy making plans and
marshaling resources for the big community bash in 2012.
"Reaching birthday number 99 is great, but next year's celebration will be one for the ages," said Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny.
"Residents are already excited, and I'm getting asked about our centennial plans all the time."

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, announced 30 employers are finalists for the 2011
Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award this month. The Freedom Award is the DoD's highest recognition given to
employers for exceptional support of their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve. The 30 finalists were selected from 4,049
nominations received earlier this year from Guard and Reserve service members or their families. The Town of Gilbert was named a
finalist on this list.

The City of Sierra Vista unveiled its Fuel Facility Expansion Project at the Pedro Castro Maintenance Center in May during a ribbon
cutting ceremony.
"Completion of this project makes our facility unique in the region, as it's one of the few places where renewable fuels are offered
in addition to diesel and unleaded," said Operations Manager Richard Cayer. This facility is part of the environmental
sustainability objective identified as a Strategic Plan goal by the Sierra Vista City Council.
