Legislative 101: How to Build Relationships and Make an Impact at the State Capitol

Location: League of Arizona Cities and Towns
Time: 9:00 am - 11:00 am

The League's legislative team will walk attendees through the legislative process and discuss strategies for building stronger relationship with your legislators. Staff will also answer any questions you have about the legislative process and provide information on how you can make the most impact at the state capital during the 2012 session.

13th Annual Rural Transportation Summit

Location: Hilton Garden Inn & Pivot Point Conference Center, Yuma, AZ

The Summit is a signature event for Rural Arizona, in which elected and appointed officials, transportation planners, service providers, engineers and other dignified quests convene. This conference provides a forum to discuss relevant multimodal issues, how they affect Rural Arizona, and possible solutions for today's complex transportation needs.

Arizona Recycled Energy in Action

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Join the U.S. Department of Energy to tour two recycled energy projects (Arizona State University and the downtown Phoenix district energy system), to learn about the basics and benefits of recycled energy, hear about free resources to help get started on a recycled energy project, and discuss how to increase the amount of clean and efficient energy in this state.

Model City Tax Code and Tax Policy for Cities and Towns

Location: League of Arizona Cities and Towns, Room 101
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Tom Belshe, Deputy Director of the League, will walk attendees through an overview of the model city tax code, including its history and how it is currently utilized by both cities and towns and the business community. This discussion will also include a look at municipal tax policy and possible implications moving forward.

Barrier 2 Bridge: A Border Celebration

Barrier 2 Bridge is an Arizona Legacy Centennial Project that celebrates border life and border culture. The Barrier 2 Bridge Symposium will examine, share, and celebrate the richness of an enduring and vibrant regional community through art, music, language, discussion and informative presentations. 2012 National League of Cities Congressional City Conference

Location: Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Washington, DC

The NLC Congressional City Conference is fast approaching. This is a great event to gather in Washington, DC with other local elected officials from around the country. Every March NLC hosts the Congressional City Conference to provide the opportunity for city leaders to learn about key federal issues and actions that affect cities and towns. City leaders meet with administration and congressional officials and visit their representatives on Capitol Hill. For information on the conference point your browser here.
