New ASRS Supplemental Salary Deferral Plan (SSDP) Portal

Over the past few months, hundreds of ASRS member employers have attended webinars and events to learn more about the new tax-deferred savings option, the ASRS Supplemental Salary Deferral Plan (SSDP). Many local governments have already begun the process of implementing the plan. If you haven't already learned more about the SSDP, now's the time.

ASRS and TIAA-CREF, the leading provider of retirement plans for the academic, medical, cultural, governmental and research fields, have introduced a new tax-deferred savings plan option that gives your employees more choice, more flexibility, and more potential to build the kind of retirement they want.

Available to local governments as a 457(b) plan, the SSDP allows eligible members to contribute tax-deferred money into an account that can be drawn upon in retirement. The SSDP is offered in addition to the ASRS Defined Benefit Plan, and eligible ASRS members will be able to participate once their employer signs up for the plan.

TIAA-CREF recently launched an online Program Information Portal where member employers can view SSDP plan investments, pricing, and additional information. The Portal also outlines the easy process for implementing the SSDP at your government.

To learn more about the SSDP, please visit the Portal at www.tiaa-cref.org/arizona or send an email to asrs@tiaa-cref.org.
